After the accident the student was rushed to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel. He was later declared dead.
The police are currently investigating the matter. Police said there is no evidence of foul play at this time. However, the circumstances surrounding the fall remain under investigation.

What happened at Benjamin Franklin High School?
According to witnesses who spoke to local media, a fight started inside a fourth-floor classroom just before the accident. FOX 11 reported that a video circulating online appears to show two male students fighting inside a classroom. A teacher can also be heard trying to stop the fight.The footage clearly showed that one student hit another student, likely in a fight and the student left the classroom. The other student then followed him in the hallway. The video revealed that after that the student fell from the fourth floor.

But according to news reports, police have not confirmed the reason for the fall. The sequence of the event is being investigated by them.

School placed under lockdown
The incident led to a lockdown at the school. The Los Angeles Unified School District said the lockdown was initially assumed to be a medical emergency.The lockdown took place for several hours. Police investigated the scene. Students were later allowed to leave the campus after the investigation.
The school is open Thursday, October 1. LAUSD said mental health professionals and support staff would be available to students and staff.
A memorial with flowers and candles was also created outside the school as students and parents mourned the death.
