Is Nicki Minaj Trump’s next press secretary? White House official shares video with her ahead of President’s Michigan rally; rapper responds
Rapper Nicki Minaj made a bold appearance with Donald Trump at a Michigan rally, where she urged the audience to head to the polls. This moment came amid swirling rumors of her candidacy for the role of White House press secretary, after the exit ...

Minaj’s appearance comes after she received some informal endorsement to be the next White House press secretary, replacing Katie Zacharia, who was “transitioned out” of the position over her professional and legal credentials. She also faced criticism for her performance in a news briefing and interviews.
Two White House staffers playfully floated her name as Zacharia’s replacement. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video on social media platform X. In the 2-minute 13-second clip, he was seen sitting and having a conversation with Minaj on Air Force One.
The rapper was praising Trump's international politics. "Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary!," he wrote in the caption. The White House's X account responded with an "eyeballs" emoji.
Alex Bruesewitz, advisor to Truimp, reposted the video shared by Cheung, saying, [sic] "Hey Barbz, what do we think about this idea??"
Nicki Minaj responds
Responding to the same video, Minaj shared an American flag and grinning face with sweat emojis. With midterm polls set to be held on November 3, 2026, The White House is yet to finalize Trump’s press secretary.
Meanwhile, the rapper shared a separate video on X giving a glimpse of her time flying in Air Force One. In the clip she showed the airplane's huge interior.
The quick exit of Zacharia, a conservative commentator, from the White House meant that she had the shortest tenure of any press secretary in the role's history. She had long called herself a lawyer when she had not passed a bar exam nor was otherwise credentialed to practice.
