Jack Dorsey’s $32 million San Francisco compound has been under renovation for nearly 14 years.

Jack Dorsey is the co-founder of Twitter. He has spent around 14 years renovating his San Francisco properties. According to the New York Post, he has been busy turning them into elaborate coastal retreats with a sauna complex, ocean views, and plunge pool. The report states that this construction has not been well received by his wealthy neighbours. They are reportedly frustrated by the noise caused due to construction.

Dorsey now heads financial technology company Block. He owns two adjoining properties in San Francisco's exclusive Sea Cliff neighbourhood. They occupy a combined 1.21 acres along El Camino der Mar.

After the purchase, construction began and it has continued since then. In December 2013, a major redevelopment application was submitted. It proposed $3.7 million in improvements. This included seismic upgrades, additional living space, roof decks, and a planted roof. This reportedly took three and a half years to secure the permit.

Another redesign proposed changes to the window, courtyard and exterior finished in 2020. Notably, the approval arrived in July 2022.

Why are his neighbours frustrated?

The long going construction has reportedly frustrated the neighbours. They have complained about noise from jackhammers, cement mixers and construction trucks.

According to the New York Post, one resident said that the construction noise in the distance had continued for years. The local resident hoped that the work would eventually end.
