Vivek Ramaswamy’s $2.3 Billion Fortune: How He Made His Money From Biotech, Investments and Business

Vivek Ramaswamy built his fortune through pharmaceutical companies, stock investments and financial businesses long before he became a familiar name in American politics. As of October 2026, Forbes estimates his net worth at around $2.2 billion to $2.3 billion. His wealth comes mainly from his investments in biotechnology, particularly Roivant Sciences, the company he founded in 2014.

Ramaswamy, a former Republican presidential candidate and author, has also built a business around investment management. His fortune has grown through business ownership rather than political office.

Vivek Ramaswamy's net worth: how Roivant Sciences became the biggest source of his wealth

Roivant Sciences played the biggest role in building Ramaswamy’s fortune. He founded the biotechnology company in 2014 with a focus on developing medicines and bringing potential treatments to market. The company operates through subsidiaries that work on drugs for different medical conditions, including cancer and inflammatory diseases.

One important deal came in 2020, when Japanese pharmaceutical company Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma acquired interests in five Roivant subsidiaries for $3 billion and took a 10% stake in Roivant. The transaction helped demonstrate the financial value of the businesses Ramaswamy had built. His tax filings showed more than $176 million in total income that year, including about $174 million in capital gains.

Roivant went public in 2021 at a valuation of approximately $7.3 billion. Ramaswamy later stepped down as its chief executive in 2021, although he continued as chairman until 2023. He then left the position to focus on his presidential campaign.

His connection with Roivant continued to shape his personal wealth. Forbes has reported that he held a stake of around 10% in the company, although ownership and valuations can change as shares are sold or transferred. In January 2024, he sold about $33 million worth of Roivant shares to help finance his presidential campaign, which he largely funded himself.

His experience in biotechnology began before Roivant. From 2007 to 2014, Ramaswamy worked at investment firm QVT Financial, where he managed investments in the biotech sector. He earned approximately $7 million in total compensation during that period.

Strive, other investments and assets add to his fortune

Ramaswamy's wealth is not limited to biotechnology. In 2022, he co-founded Strive Asset Management, an investment firm that positions itself against environmental, social and governance (ESG) investment policies and corporate diversity initiatives.

Strive has attracted support from prominent investors and built a portfolio of investment products. Forbes has estimated that Ramaswamy's stake in the firm is worth more than $100 million. However, the firm's assets under management should not be confused with his personal wealth. Those assets belong to clients and investors, not directly to the company's founders.

He has also invested in other businesses and financial assets. Reported investments include Bitcoin, Ethereum, video platform Rumble, and cryptocurrency companies MoonPay and Shipyard Software. His portfolio has included stocks and bonds.

Real estate and other assets also contribute to his overall net worth. Ramaswamy and his wife, Apoorva, own a large home in Ohio that has been reported to be worth around $2 million.

Forbes has also reported that he holds stakes in three private jets.

Ramaswamy has earned money from writing as well. His books include Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America's Social Justice Scam and Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence. These works have added to his public profile, although his business investments remain the main driver of his fortune.
