The US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, has landed herself in a fresh controversy after a news outlet revealed that she allegedly requested financial help from a Trump supporter. According to a report by 'The Wall Street Journal', Guilfoyle reportedly asked Republican donor Eric Deters to pay off her $100,000 American Express (AmEx) bill just days before her Senate confirmation hearing in July 2025. However, what makes the revelation even more surprising and shocking is how she allegedly approached Deters for the money.

KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE'S ALLEGED $100,000 PLEA TO ERIC DETERS

According to WSJ's report, Guilfoyle, former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., reached out to Deters on July 3, 2025, which was only six days prior to her upcoming Senate hearing for being America’s ambassador to Greece. In messages reviewed by WSJ, she allegedly urged Deters to transfer money directly to her American Express account, even providing a PDF containing payment instructions.

"It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express," she wrote as reported by WSJ.

The report also claimed that Guilfoyle wanted the transaction handled discreetly, suggesting that sending money directly to American Express would avoid creating a visible record. However, Deters reportedly refused to make the payment, explaining that giving her a such a large sum could literally end his marriage.

"Honey please I need you to get this done for me today," Guilfoyle texted Deters, adding a prayer hands emoji and a PDF with bill payment instructions from American Express.

"You could just send it here," she wrote on July 3, as quoted by WSJ, just less than a week before her July 9 confirmation hearing.

The financial request was reportedly part of a much longer relationship between Guilfoyle and Deters, a former Kentucky congressional candidate and longtime Trump supporter. Deters had been seeking assistance with personal tax and legal matters and reportedly believed Guilfoyle's connections within the Trump administration could help him.

According to the outlet, Deters had even discussed payments reaching $1 million if she successfully helped resolve certain issues.

According to the report, Guilfoyle had contacted senior administration figures regarding Deters' concerns, including forwarding his tax-related correspondence to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) commissioner. The IRS was looking into a deduction Deters had claimed in 2020 following the sale of his stake in the family business, which he believed was politically motivated.

Meanwhile, Guilfoyle's attorney, Jesse Binnall, brought the authenticity of the messages into question without providing specific details. He maintained that Guilfoyle was owed money for participating in political events and associated travel. Deters, however, disputed owing her any outstanding balance.

A US Embassy official also defended Guilfoyle, emphasizing that she had undergone Senate scrutiny before receiving confirmation.
