Hitler Mussolini narrowly wins mayoral race in Peru a year after joining the left
A small town in Peru has elected a new mayor with the unusual name Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores. The leftist politician obtained 34% of the votes in a closely contested election. Previous elections in Peru have also seen candidates with shocking...

But the rather unusual name, which sounds like a roll call of 20th-century dictators, belongs to a leftist politician. The 45-year-old Flores is a member of the center-left Ahora Nación party, which secured 34% of the vote, Politico reported, citing local media. The race was narrow, too: the top three candidates were separated by just 42 votes.
As per Simeon’s candidate application form, he manages the Simeon Sac Investment Group and owns 3 trucks, including a 4x4. Apart from having a basic education, the Candidate’s resume does not give any details about the history behind his ultra-rightist name.

However, one standout detail from his profile is that he resigned from the right-wing Popular Force party in 2025, which is also running the government now, led by President Keiko Fujimori.
But Peru is known for candidates with shocking names. In 2018, a politician named Hitler beat another one named Lenin in another mayoral race in the district of Yúngar. Their full names were Hitler Guesclin Alba Sánchez and Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde.
