Weight loss medications have become very popular in recent months. From celebrities to common people who have been struggling to reduce their weight for a long time, many have found relief once the GLP medications hit the market.

Now, Mochi Health has reduced the cost of GLP-1 making the weight loss treatment affordable for a common consumer. According to a USA Today report, the telehealth company is now providing compounded semaglutide for $60 a month and the compounded tirzepatide now costs $90. While you will have to pay an extra membership fee and the cost will depend on the exact dose you have been recommended, it will surely make your medical bill lighter.

The company has also introduced Mochi Labs. According to the supplied announcement, members can order bloodwork through the platform and receive results in their patient portal.

Why are Mochi’s GLP-1 costs changing?

Mochi has decided to shift from a monthly medication cost model to a dose-based model. If a patient is prescribed lower doses, then his bill will be lower compared to others. So now patients have to pay as per their prescribed dose.

If you have just started your weight loss treatment then it would cost you less due to the lower dose but the price may vary while moving further into the treatment as the dose may change. Patients comparing plans should check the price attached to each prescribed dose.

What will patients pay with membership?

A monthly membership at Mochi costs $79 and a 12-month plan will cost you $49 per month you pay for the whole year upfront. Other than this, you will have to pay for your medication.

An annual plan works out to $49 per month when paid upfront. Medication is charged separately.

Considering the monthly fees of $79, the company mentioned in its advertisement that the starting total may come up to $139 if you are taking compounded semaglutide and $169 if it is compounded tirzepatide. Those calculations exclude optional testing and assume the lowest advertised medication price.

The above calculations is based on the first prescription and the price may vary depending on membership fee duration, medication charges and doses.
