In a post on his platform X on Friday, October 30, the world’s richest person listed three things he believes Democrats could do if they secure control of all three branches of the federal government. These include making Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico states because Democrats want to gain a strong majority in the Senate. Secondly, they will ‘open the borders and legalize everyone living in America illegally to cement a permanent majority,’ Musk wrote, adding that he expects an expanded US Supreme Court, if Democrats win.
“This would result in America becoming a permanent one-party state and the end of democracy in any meaningful sense of the word,” Musk wrote.
He argued that Republicans need to retain at least 51 seats in the Senate in 2029 to prevent such a scenario. “All that is needed to ensure this doesn’t happen is 51 Republican senators in 2029. That is why you should vote for Republican senators this election. Other reasons are irrelevant compared to this one,” he added.
In a reply to his own post, Musk also warned in a separate post that a Democratic victory could mean “game over for America.” Replying to his post, one user questioned his commitment to democracy, writing, “Maybe spend another $500 mill in the spirit of democracy, that oughta do it.”
Another X user argued that Republicans had themselves contributed to the possibility of a Democratic victory. “Unfortunately republicans can only blame themselves for the blue wave coming. This administration has betrayed almost everyone who voted for them,” the user commented, adding that the second Trump administration had been “a disaster.”
Meanwhile, another user responded to Musk's warning with a brief agreement, writing, “It would be game over for America.”
