The victims of Sunday's deadly plane crash in Florida included a 20-year-old woman who had been a licensed pilot since she was a teenager and a technology entrepreneur and his family, according to their relatives. The small plane, a Learjet 60, was en route from Austin, Texas, to an airport in the Bahamas when it crashed in a busy southern Florida neighborhood and erupted into a massive fireball, killing all nine occupants.

Two children among victims

Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras was the copilot on the flight, her mother Camila Corteleti told The New York Times. Filgueiras had earned her license in 2023 when she was a 17-year-old at the West Boca Raton Community High School, according to local news reports from then.

The crash victims also included tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, and their two children — four-year-old Emma and two-year-old Charlie — according to a statement from the families of the seven passengers. Anita Maria Cetina, a caretaker for the children, also died in the crash.

Two other victims have been identified as Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr. The identity of the second pilot has not been disclosed as yet.

'Living the dream'

Robinson had recently said on a podcast that he and his family lived in Aspen, Colorado. He was a co-founder of Robly, an email marketing platform, and the founder of Retention.com, based in Austin. "I feel like I’m living the dream," 45-year-old Robinson told the ProfitLed podcast.

According to Filgueiras’ pilot’s license, she had the rating to fly the jet but not to be in command of the flight. The Palm Beach County School District paid for her license as part of the school’s specialized aviation academy, where students practice flying on simulators and drones.

"Some people think that it’s weird that I can fly planes, but I can’t drive a car," Filgueiras had told WPEC-TV in 2023. "I think it’s funny."

2nd deadliest plane crash this year

In the statement released by the families of the passengers, they said: "Our hearts are also with the families of the pilots, who are grieving alongside us."

The jet crash occurred less than 10 miles from President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach County and marked the second deadliest aviation incident in the United States this year.
