Amid a flurry of posts from President Donald Trump, his social media platform has seen a significant decline ahead of the Midterms. Daily users visiting Truth Social have dropped over 30% over the past year despite the President’s posts, according to a digital intelligence report published by Similarweb.

President Trump launched the social media site in 2022. He did so after getting banned from Twitter, now called X, and various other platforms including Facebook and YouTube, after the January 6, 2021 riots at the Capitol. While launching the platform, Trump had said that it would “stand up to Big Tech” companies like Twitter and Facebook.

The President regularly posts on the platform, with posts spanning multiple paragraphs to AI generated memes, many of which have him as well. According to The Independent, Trump on Wednesday, October 14, posted about 25 posts over just a few hours. Among these posts was a video of himself wrestling with a tiger. The post came days after a man was mauled to death by a tiger in the UK. However, Trump also has the largest following out of any Truth Social user. He has over 13 million followers on the platform.

Daily traffic dropped from 420,000 to 260,000

Truth Social’s traffic saw a massive drop going from 420,000 in June 2025 to 260,000 in September 2026, according to the Similarweb report. The drop shows that the President’s answer to Big Tech companies is falling behind them.

According to The Independent, social media platform Facebook sees over 200 billion users each day, while X, despite the rebrand and exodus of several people, still gets over 130 million daily users from around the world.

The drop also comes after the parent firm of Truth Social, Trump Media & Technology Group reported a loss in the first-quarter. The company reported a net loss of over $405 million for the financial year 2027. It saw net sales of only about $871,000 in the first quarter. The company has also seen its annual losses increase. The firm’s loss increased to $712 million in 2025 from $400.9 million in 2024.

The President is seeing record-low approval ratings ahead of the midterms

President Trump’s approval rating has hit a record low compared to both of his terms according to a newly released Fox News survey. The survey found that only 36% of the respondents approved of Trump’s handling of the presidency, while 64% disapproved of it.

The decline here was most notably seen in those under 45 years of age, people with annual household incomes of less than $50,000 and non-white respondents. However, among the Republicans 76% approved of President Trump, while 26% disapproved. One of the most contentious issues was the President’s handling of border security. Here 50% respondents approved, while 50% disapproved. The survey was conducted with 1,202 respondents.

The President has earlier said that “it’s possible” the Iran War may cost him the November midterms.

Truth Social faces lawsuit from San Francisco

President Trump’s social media platform has been sued by the city of San Francisco in September 2026. The lawsuit is over a paid early access to the President’s posts on Truth Social. The city’s Attorney David Chiu accused the platform of running a “pay-to-play scheme”.

According to Chiu, the platform is allowing certain users to gain access to President Trump’s market moving posts before they become publicly available and provides wealthy users an unfair advantage. The API service worth $100,000 was described as a “corrupt business scheme ” in the lawsuit. The lawsuit is seeking to block the service and imposition of civil penalties.
