AT&T data breach settlement checks: Who gould get $5,000 and why others may receive less than $10
AT&T settlement checks: AT&T customers waiting for data breach settlement money could see a wide gap between their payouts. While some eligible claimants may qualify for as much as $5,000 others who chose tiered cash payments could receive less than $10.

The difference comes down to the type of claim filed under AT&T’s $177 million settlement, which covers two data incidents disclosed in 2024.

AT&T Settlement's Different Payouts for Two Data Breaches

The customers affected by March 2024 incident may qualify for up to $5,000 if they can document losses linked to breach. The incident involved dataset containing customer information that appeared on the dark web.

A separate incident disclosed in July 2024 involved certain call and text interaction records downloaded from an AT&T workspace hosted on a third-party cloud platform. So eligible claimants connected to that incident may receive up to $2500 for documented losses.

The settlement divides $177 million fund into two parts, $149 million for the first data breach and $28 million for the second, according to the court order approving the settlement. The maximum amounts are not guaranteed payments and claimants must meet the settlement's eligibility and documentation requirements.

Some AT&T Claimants Could Receive Only a Few Dollars

Customers who selected tiered cash payments instead of reimbursement for documented losses could receive much smaller sums.

USA TODAY reported estimated payments of $39 to $40 for Tier 1 claims linked to the first incident. For the second incident, estimated payments range from $7.50 to $8.10 for Tier 2 claims and $6.50 to $7.10 for Tier 3 claims.

The final amounts may vary depending on the number of valid claims and deductions for legal fees, administration costs and other court-approved expenses.

When Will AT&T Settlement Money Arrive

The settlement received final court approval on October 2, 2026, but a confirmed payment date had not been announced as of October 27.

Payments must be distributed within 60 days of the settlement's effective date. That timeline depends on the appeal process being completed and claims being reviewed.

Customers who already submitted claims can check the official settlement website or call the settlement administrator at 833-890-4930 for updates.

The claim deadline was December 18, 2025, so customers who missed it cannot submit a new claim under the published terms.
