The
Atlanta Falcons’ latest social media profile picture has sparked a wave of criticism and jokes online, with some users comparing its design to Nazi-era imagery. The team shared the graphic on X on Wednesday, October 21, with the simple caption “New PFP.” The post quickly gained millions of views, bringing the Falcons’ throwback design into the spotlight.
Despite the reaction, the image is not a new logo. It brings back a design from the franchise’s early years, though the team has yet to explain why it changed its profile picture. The inputs are taken from TMZ , The Washington Post and Fox5 Atlanta.

Why is the Falcons logo facing backlash?
The graphic features a black falcon set against red, white and gold-toned stripes. Some social media users said the combination reminded them of symbols associated with Nazi Germany.
The reactions included jokes about World War II and Germany’s wartime history. One commenter wrote, “The Bird Reich,” while another joked, “I was not expecting to wake up this morning to see that the Atlanta Falcons are preparing to invade Poland.”
Another user posted, “I must say, I was not expecting to wake up this morning to see that the Atlanta Falcons are preparing to invade Poland.” Others joked, “Hail Atlanta” and “I did Nazi this coming.”
By early Thursday afternoon, the post had received more than 11 million views, over 5,300 reposts and more than 4,000 comments. Some users also began using AI tools to create their own images in response to the design.

The Falcons have not publicly addressed the criticism.
Despite the online reaction, the bird emblem dates back to the team’s early history. The Falcons introduced the original logo when the franchise began playing in 1966. The stripes in the new profile picture also resemble those used on the team’s original red helmets.

A similar controversy emerged in September 2024, when another profile-picture change featured a red version of the throwback helmet logo. That image also prompted comparisons to Nazi-era German symbols.
The latest graphic appears on the team’s website as well as its social media profile, but the Falcons have not announced an official logo redesign or explained whether the change is linked to an upcoming game.
While the logo debate continues online, some fans have also questioned why the team is drawing attention to its social media image rather than its results on the field.
