Arizona Public Services (APS), one of Arizona's major electricity utilities, will provide customers with more than $33 million in credits on their November 2026 electricity bills. The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC), the state's utility regulator, unanimously approved the bill credit in October 2026. The relief is a one-time adjustment, not a permanent reduction in electricity rates.

How much will the customers save?

The average residential customer could save approximately $14.70 on their November bill, according to ACC. APS estimates savings of about $14 for a typical household consuming around 1,050 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month. According to a New York Post report, the actual credit will vary according to the customer's electricity usage and bill. Business customers are also eligible and could see savings of several hundred dollars or more, depending on their electricity consumption.

Will customers need to apply?

According to the report, no application or registration is required to receive the credit. The adjustment will be applied automatically through the Environmental Benefits Surcharge on customers' electricity bills.

Residential customers normally pay an Environmental Benefits Surcharge of approximately $2.49 a month. In November, customers will also not be charged the monthly Renewable Energy Adjustment Charge (REAC). The REAC will return to its previously approved rate on December 1, 2026.

Where is the money coming from?

The credit is partly funded by the Green Power Partners programme, through which APS sells renewable energy credits to participating businesses. Commercial and industrial participants voluntarily purchase these credits from APS.

Revenue generated through the programme is returned to customers as part of the bill relief. The ACC also cited an approximately $33.6 million uncommitted balance in APS's Renewable Energy Adjustment Charge fund as part of the decision to approve the credit.
