The meadows in the Cotswolds transforms an existing property into a tranquil boutique hotel and high-end restaurant
A successful rural retreat is not only defined by its interiors but also by the way it naturally connects with its surroundings. Cotswolds, United Kingdom.Pardini Hall Architecture’s project is about giving a new life to an existing property, respecting its character and surroundings.

The scheme proposes a sensitive refurbishment of the existing building with a new modern extension. Rather than treating the addition as a separate factor, the design focuses on creating a cohesive retreat that associates the existing structure with its scenario.

Materials rooted in the local landscape

Material selection is major to the design approach. Local materials have been used to reduce the carbon impact of the project and to add to its connection with the Cotswolds.

Each element has been considered with the aim of creating spaces that feel comfortable, peaceful and connected to the scenario. This approach is featured through a rustic-chic design language that balances the character of the setting with the needs of a contemporary boutique hotel.

The garden becomes part of the experience

The landscape is a major part of The Meadows rather than simply scenery surrounding the building.

Guests can experience the gardens through views from the interiors in the meadows, while the restaurant extends outdoors to create spaces for dining in the garden. The concept also includes a garden-to-table experience, strengthening the connection between the food, the restaurant and its landscape.

Blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors

These openings lead directly onto an external courtyard, enabling the interior and exterior areas to flow into one another. The arrangement helps offer a more open association between the hotel's indoor spaces and the surrounding landscape.

For Pardini Hall Architecture, the project reflects the clients' ambition to establish a rural retreat in harmony with its surroundings. The resulting boutique hotel is defined by its relationship with place, its considered use of materials and the experience of inhabiting the spaces.
