WATCH: Lakers’ star Luka Doncic gets courtside fan kicked-out over hitting female referee with ball, asks ‘What the hell are you doing?’

The game between the LA Lakers and the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, November 4, was interrupted after Lakers’ star Luka Doncic got into a verbal argument with a fan sitting court side. Doncic got the fan removed after back-and-forth ensued over the fan reportedly hitting a female referee with the ball.

The game was briefly stopped as officials quickly approached the fan. He was later walked out of the court at the Golden 1 Centre arena in Sacramento. The game later continued and the Lakers beat the Kings 116-103.

Courtside fan hit female referee with ball

A video going viral on social media showed the Lakers and Kings mid-play late in the third quarter, when the ball stumbled courtside. A fan, who appeared to be wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, went on to receive the ball. The fan is then seen aggressively throwing the ball to a female referee standing courtside. The referee managed to deflect the ball with her hands.

However, the incident caught Luka Doncic’s eyes. The Lakers star then confronted the man. Match officials then approached the fan, and asked him to leave. The fan was later walked out of the court after a brief back-and-forth with the officials. Doncic was also seen checking on the female referee, who signaled with a thumbs up towards him.

Following the game, Doncic confirmed that his argument with the fan was due to him throwing the ball at the referee. “He just tossed (the ball) really strong towards the ref. I just asked him what the hell he was doing.”

Doncic scored 40 points in 3rd consecutive game

Despite the interruption, Doncic went on to score 40 points against the Kings, with nine rebounds and seven assists, contributing to the Lakers’ win. During the second quarter, Doncic scored 11 consecutive points and managed a free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

With this, Doncic has now recorded his third-straight game with 40 points, and also the fourth in his last five games. The Lakers star is currently averaging about 38.5 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8 assists per game. His stats make the fourth all time in scoring average over the first eight games of a season.

With the win, the Lakers have also improved to a 7-2 and are currently tied for the second position in the West with the Houston Rockets. They will next play the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA cup on November 6.
