With Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both on injured reserve and might stay there for the rest of the season, the Baltimore Ravens turned to UDFA Joe Fagnano to start against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the rookie performed poorly, which le...

He returned to the field in matchweek 8 against the Buffalo Bills, but that turned out to be his last game of the season. In the Ravens' opening possession, Lamar injured the right thumb of his throwing arm when it collided with Linebacker Greg Rousseau. He left the field without playing another snap. In fact, Jackson underwent surgery for his injured thumb, and fans are unlikely to see him again this season. He might recover before the season is over, but as of now, he stays on the injured reserve.
With Lamar out, who did Baltimore turn to against Jacksonville?
Who started for the Ravens against the Jaguars?
With Lamar injured, the job would have been given to Tyler Huntley, who had stepped in when the 2-time MVP was nursing his ankle injury. But Huntley himself suffered a season-ending turf toe injury. With both QB1 and QB2 out, Jesse Minter had to turn to Undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano, who played the majority of the game against the Bills.ALSO READ: Was 255 euros fine behind Cristiano Ronaldo's sudden retirement? In the game against Buffalo, Fagnano completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards and one interception as Baltimore lost 36-10. In his first start today against the Jaguars, the rookie QB delivered a less-than-impressive performance. He completed only 10 of 18 passes for merely 60 yards and was picked off twice. He ended the game with a QB rating of 22.7 as the Ravens lost 10-33 to go 4-5 for the season.
Despite Fagnano only playing two games, fans are already questioning his place on the roster. They are questioning the Ravens' roster moves, pointing out that they should have kept former Heisman runner-up Diego Pavia.
“Ravens should’ve kept Diego Pavia instead of this dude”, fans question the Ravens' roster moves after Joe Fagnano delivers an underwhelming performance
Fans are wondering how the Ravens would have fared tonight if they had Diego Pavia under Center instead of Joe Fagnano. After going undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, Pavia was invited by Baltimore to rookie minicamp before signing a three-year contract with the team. However, the Ravens waived him just two and a half months after signing the deal.ALSO READ: Travis and Jason Kelce’s mom Donna sells Florida home that went viral for window renovation: Here’s a look at the $355,000 property she bought in 2019
Despite Pavia’s height limitations, fans believe the former Vanderbilt star could have performed better than Fagnano. Even former Undisputed host Skip Bayless joined the conversation, arguing that the Ravens would have had a better chance of winning had they kept Pavia on the roster. A fan said,“Ravens should’ve kept Diego Pavia instead of this dude”
Another wrote, “If Diego Pavia was just able to beat out the UDFA from UConn in the camp, he would be starting a prime-time game in the NFL rn”.
A fan stated, “Even with his size limitations, I find it hard to believe that Diego Pavia wouldn’t be more productive for the Ravens than this Fagnano guy has been tonight”.
Someone added, "Wonder how Diego Pavia would’ve fared had he not gotten released”.
The Ravens can still re-sign Pavia, despite the quarterback currently negotiating with the United Football League. However, it doesn’t appear that Baltimore is considering a reunion with him at this time of need.
Instead, the Ravens are adding more depth and competition to their quarterback room by signing veteran QB Jacoby Brissett. With Brissett now in the mix, it appears Fagnano could be headed back to the bench.
