“Dak Prescott jinxed his own team”, fans tear into the Cowboys quarterback after his pep talk to CJ Stroud backfires

Dak Prescott gave C.J. Stroud a pep talk after the Texans lost to the Cowboys in their Week 4 matchup. However, things have taken a turn since then. Houston and Stroud have won their last two games, while Dallas has lost its last two, with Prescot...

Dallas Cowboys' Dak Prescott throws during the first half of an NFL football game against the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 18, 2026.

Dak Prescott is a veteran in the league. In his 11th season in the NFL, he has bags of experience navigating the highs and lows that come with playing the most important position on the gridiron.

So, when C.J. Stroud, who is 8 eight years his junior, was going through a difficult start to the season with his team, the Houston Texans, Dak, unsurprisingly, gave him some encouraging words.

Following the Texans' 30-34 loss to Dallas in game week 4, the Cowboys QB hugged Stroud after the game, telling him to “shake it off. Go get some wins, bro. Go get some wins going, brother.” Kind words from a quarterback who has always led by example on and off the field. Houston was 0-4 following that game.

Since then, their fortunes have reversed. The Texans have won their past two games, while the Cowboys have lost both their games. The Ohio State Alum has elevated his performances while Prescott’s performance has gone down since then.

Fans were quick to notice the trend and wasted no time sharing their thoughts. They roasted Dak, poking fun at his pep talk and recent performances.

Some fans joked that the Cowboys QB had jinxed his own team, pointing out that both teams had now won two games each. Others claimed that the Texans had somehow stolen Dallas’ ability to win, while several couldn’t stop laughing at the situation. They said,

“Dak Prescott jinxed his own team. We need to stop having the Cowboys on in primetime”.

Dak Prescott has been putting on weak performances since the Texans game

In weeks 5 and 6, the Cowboys took on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Green Bay Packers, respectively, and they lost both matches.

Against the Bucs, Dallas lost 16-24 at home. Dak completed only 57.1 percent of his passes for 316 yards. He threw one TD pass and two costly interceptions and had a QB rating of 69.1. Today in a 23-13 loss to the Packers, he attempted 54 passes, completing only 63 percent of them for 258 yards. Prescott yet again failed his team by throwing 2 game-altering picks, including one in the red zone.

The former Mississippi State shot-caller failed to bring his two best receivers, George Pickens and Cee Dee Lamb, into the game during the crucial moments in the game. Dak's offense failed to turn up, especially during the first half, as they failed to get any points on the board. His only touchdown came in the final minute, and by that time Green Bay had already secured the game.

Prescott and the offensive line couldn’t handle the Packers defense’s blitz-heavy game plan. But the QB can only do so much in a system. He had no help from his offensive line, and there was no substantial ground game. They failed to generate explosive plays.

The defense has been the Cowboys' problem throughout the season. While it showed some improvement against the Packers, the offense failed to get going.

Dallas is now 2-4 and far away from the playoff spot even in the struggling NFC East. The pressure is mounting on Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer. His lack of experience as a HC has been apparently visible. Even though he was appointed by Jerry Jones himself, the Cowboys owner might start to lose his patience and think about making changes if the team continues to struggle.

The Cowboys take on their bitter rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, in match week 7.
