WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRISTIAN WATSON?
The incident occurred during the second quarter at Lambeau Field when Love connected with Watson on a deep pass. Watson collided with Panthers cornerback Will Lee III while completing the reception. Both players went down following the play and required medical attention.
Watson was first examined in the medical tent prior to his transportation to the changing rooms. The matter, however, took an uglier turn when he was later taken to the nearby hospital for tests.
The unfortunate incident interrupted what had been a brilliant performance from Watson. Before leaving the field, he had recorded six receptions for 100 yards, leading all receivers in the first half. His 53-yard catch also helped set up Green Bay's second touchdown of the night.
CHRISTIAN WATSON INJURY UPDATE: WHAT DOES HIS ABSENCE MEAN FOR PACKERS?
Watson's hospitalization is another worrying development for a player whose NFL career has repeatedly been interrupted by injuries. According to CBS Sports, the wide receiver has previously dealt with hamstring strains, knee problems, an ankle sprain, a concussion and an ACL tear. He has missed 20 games during his five-year NFL career.
His latest setback could present another challenge for Green Bay's offense, particularly given his importance as one of Love's most dangerous receiving targets.
For now, the immediate concern is Watson's health rather than his potential return to action. Although the Packers confirmed he was undergoing precautionary testing, the reports did not establish the severity of his chest injury or provide a recovery timeline.
