Steven Van Zandt has relisted his Greenwich Village duplex penthouse for $18,995,000, bringing the asking price close to $19 million. The new price is an increase of approximately $4 million from the $15 million asking price when the property first came to market in June 2026. The musician and actor own the Manhattan residence with his wife, Maureen Van Zandt. The couple bought the property for $6 million in 2008, when Steven was touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and starring as Silvio Dante in HBO's crime drama The Sopranos. After more than 18 years of ownership, the couple is now trying to sell the duplex.

Why has Steven Van Zandt put Manhattan Penthouse back on the market?

The Greenwich Village property was initially listed for $15 million in June 2026. After a period away from the market, the residence has returned with an asking price of $18.995 million.

Mark D. Friedman and Richard Rosenthal of Brown Harris Stevens are handling the sale. The property is in the Novare Building at 135 West Fourth Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan. The building was formerly the Washington Square Methodist Church, which was established in 1860. Van Zandt's duplex occupies the top two floors of the former church, along with a mirror-image penthouse.

Inside the Duplex

The residence is spread in 3,504 square feet area. It includes three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The interior of the residence mixes original features of the church with residential improvements.

The residence includes original stained-glass windows, exposed beams and a 20-foot vaulted, wood-clad ceiling. Exposed industrial ductwork, steel and glass also contribute to the interior design. A floating staircase connects the two floors of the duplex.

The couple made several personal upgrades to the residence when they bought it. Interior details include a leopard-print staircase, a purple primary bathroom and a black-and-white Harlequin-patterned kitchen backsplash. The roof deck has views of New York City and provides an outdoor space for residents.

How the penthouse's two floors are arranged?

The upper floor of the duplex begins with a private elevator landing that leads to a foyer. From the foyer, the residence extends to a formal dining room and lounge, which includes an Atomic Age-style chandelier. A long gallery with windows leads from the dining room to a combined living and kitchen area. The bedrooms are on the lower level of the duplex.

The primary bedroom includes an office nook and a walk-in closet. Its attached bathroom continues the eclectic interior theme, with stars, peacock feathers and other graphics as part of the decor. The two-level residence also creates a residence within a converted church.

The residence has a common charge of $4,091 per month. The common charge covers a 24-hour virtual or cyber doorman. The property also has real estate taxes of $5,768. Together, the common charges and taxes total $9,859 per month.

Steven Van Zandt's connection to The Sopranos and music

Van Zandt is known for his work as a musician and an actor. When he and Maureen bought the penthouse in 2008, he was touring with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

He was also starring in The Sopranos, the HBO crime drama where he played Silvio Dante, a member of the fictional DiMeola crime family. Maureen Van Zandt, an actress, played his on-screen wife. Their connection to the show is part of the reason they bought the penthouse, where they spent $6 million for the raw space. The couple then made interior improvements to the residence.

The new listing represents the next chapter in the ownership of this residence. The couple is trying to sell the residence for nearly $19 million for a residence they purchased for $6 million in 2008.

Other celebrities houses in Novare building

Van Zandt is not the only celebrity to live in the Novare Building. According to the New York Post, Jude Law previously rented another penthouse in the Novare Building. That penthouse was listed for $12.5 million in 2015. It is not the same residence as Van Zandt's.

Musicians have also bought residences in the area. Singer Pink spent $21.5 million to buy a West Village townhouse in April, according to the supplied report.

Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams also bought a second penthouse at 1 Fifth Avenue. The prices of those residences provide context for the value of Van Zandt's listing.
