Brad Pitt sold his Los Feliz home, the sprawling nearly two acre Briarcliff Manor compound, to philanthropist Aileen Getty for $33 million in March 2023. The magnate had bought a house in the area back in 1994 and had added to his purchase throughout the years. On top of that, Pitt also bought a smaller, more midcentury modern dwelling from Getty for $5.5 million. The property was sold in an off-market deal.

The home is located on nearly two acres land in Hollywood. The entire estate included five parcels of land that had made up the larger Briarcliff. Its centerpiece was a Craftsman style home that was a historic property built in an early twentieth century style. The estate boasts of a few recreational buildings including a tennis pavilion.

In 1994, Brad Pitt laid out the first bricks of his compound when he bought the main house for $1.7 million from Cassandra Petersen. She was an actor, who played Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. From there, Pitt went on to buy four other neighbouring estates and added them to this one over the next 15 to 20 years.

The main house is known to be a craftsman style building. It is spread in around 6,700 square feet area. It was built around 1910 for oil baron Lous McCray. It had several bedrooms along with 7 bathrooms and was richly decorated on the inside with mahogany paneling and copper ceiling.

The mansion was one of five different buildings on the estate. Among the others were a guest two-bedroom cottage, a nanny's house, a tennis pavilion, and more. All of these buildings together made up the family compound which also included two swimming pools. The property has numerous recreational facilities like a custom built skate park, a movie theater, and a treehouse.

Additionally, the home was previously owned by a famed Hollywood actress named Cassandra Petersen who also had stories of ghosts and mysteries haunting her throughout her stay.

She said that there were a number of haunted items in the house and that most notably there was a black shadow in the swimming pool. This she would tell Brad Pitt personally in a discussion prior to him finalizing his purchase of the estate.
