This puts it ahead of Ethereum, which has a market capitalization of about $233 billion.

In one well-known early transaction, developer Laszlo Hanyecz spent 10,000 Bitcoin on pizza. Those coins would now be worth more than $668 million. Bitcoin also remained about 30% below its all-time high at the end of 2025.
