In order to win the jackpot, one must match five white balls and the red Powerball.

The Powerball Jackpot has increased to a staggering sum of $467 million for the October 5, Monday night's drawing after none managed to get a perfect combination of the five white balls as well as the red Powerball ball in last Saturday night's draw. New lottery offers a great opportunity for someone to win the prize of lifetime. The offered amount of $467 million is an annuity prize that will pay out over a period of 30 years. An option is available to choose to get cash payment at once and its estimated value is $192.4 million. Both amounts are subject to federal and any state taxes that may apply.

POWERBALL JACKPOT ODDS REMAIN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT

In order to win the jackpot, one must match five white balls and the red Powerball. It is extremely difficult to achieve this, and from the estimation of the probability, there is 1 in 292.2 million chances of winning the Powerball jackpot. Nevertheless, it is important to note that for one to win the Powerball, it is not necessary for the numbers on the ticket to match all numbers. There are nine types of prizes in the Powerball, which depend on how many white ball and Powerball are matched. This means a ticket can still win a prize even if it falls well short of hitting the jackpot.

ILLINOIS TICKET WINS MASSIVE $1.04 BILLION JACKPOT

The most recent winning of the Powerball took place on August 12 when the ticket bought in Illinois matched all six numbers and won an estimated jackpot of $1.04 billion. This broke a record of 44 draws without any winner and became the eighth largest prize ever won in Powerball. This person can either choose a total prize money for 30 years or take an estimated $450.5 million lump sum prize.

However, Illinois is not the only state which enjoyed having a winner of the Powerball jackpot. In January, there was a ticket won in North Carolina and got an estimated prize of $209.3 million. In March, the jackpot of $250.8 million was won by a ticket bought in Arkansas, followed by the one won in Delaware for an estimated $231 million in April.

The powerball has continued to increase the jackpots every time there is no ticket that matches the six-number combination in a particular drawing. This strategy has resulted in some amazing prizes throughout the years. The largest prize ever to be won in the Powerball is the astounding $2.04 billion in 2022. The powerball lottery has two other large jackpots in 2025, which are $1.817 billion and $1.787 billion.
