Strategy CEO predicts historic surge in Bitcoin banking adoption: 7 drivers that could push banks toward BTC USD
Bitcoin banking adoption could see its biggest increase in history over the next 12 months, Strategy CEO Phong Le said pointing to seven factors that could encourage more financial institutions to embrace the cryptocurrency.

In a post on X, Le identified monetary inflation, regulatory clarity, customer demand, technology modernization, agentic artificial intelligence, fear of missing out and survival as potential drivers of adoption.

His forecast comes as Strategy’s Bitcoin Banking Adoption Index rose to 34% in the third quarter of 2026. The increase suggests broader adoption among major global banks. However Strategy said the trend remains in its early stages.

Bitcoin Banking Adoption Index Climbs to 34%

Strategy reported the latest index reading where Fidelity led the listed institutions with a score of 77%, followed by JPMorgan Chase at 47% and BNY at 46%, as per The Street report. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley each recorded 45%.

Several European and Asian banks posted lower figures, Barclays stood at 30%, Deutsche Bank at 27% and Japan’s MUFG at 18%.

As per Strategy, the increase reflects wider access to Bitcoin funds, custody services and Bitcoin-backed lending. Alongside progress in stablecoins and tokenization.

Le expects adoption to accelerate over the coming year, however his forecast doesn't mean how quickly individual banks will expand their Bitcoin services or whether all the institutions listed will follow the same path.

Phong Le Identifies AI, Regulation and Customer Demand as Catalysts

Le’s seven catalysts span financial conditions, technology and competitive pressure.

Monetary inflation and regulatory clarity could influence banks’ decisions, while customer demand may encourage institutions to expand their cryptocurrency offerings. Technology modernization and agentic AI are also among the factors Le expects to shape adoption.

He included fear of missing out and survival on the list, pointing to the possibility that competitive pressure could encourage more banks to act.

Le has also expressed optimism about Bitcoin adoption by corporations, institutions, banks and nation-states.

Michael Saylor Says AI Could Change How Investors Value Assets

In a post on X shared by Le, Strategy co-founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor argued that AI could reduce the value of equities tied to human labor and talent. He said investors would look for assets that robots cannot produce more of.

Bitcoin Price Today: BTC USD at $82,080 as US Bond Yields Fall

Bitcoin was up 0.5% at $82080.50 on Thursday. As per Investing.com report, a sharp rally in the US bond market helped risk assets, even as investors assessed hotter than expected producer inflation data.

The price figure reflects Bitcoin’s reported level at that time, rather than its performance over the entire trading session.

US producer price index rose 1.3% month over month in September, compared with economists’ expectations for a 0.3% increase. It was the largest monthly increase in four and a half years.

On an annual basis, headline producer inflation reached 6.3%, up from 5.6% in August and above the expected 5.3%.

Core producer prices, which exclude food and energy, increased 0.7% month over month and 5% year over year. Economists had expected increases of 0.3% and 4.4%, respectively.

Ether and Other Major Cryptocurrencies Also Rise

Several major cryptocurrencies traded higher alongside Bitcoin.

Ether rose 1.7% to $2461.72, while XRP gained 0.5%. BNB increased 0.2%, Cardano climbed 0.8% and Solana advanced 1.2%. Dogecoin slipped 0.3%, while the TRUMP token gained 0.1%.
