Olah co-founded Anthropic. It is the company behind the Claude family of AI models. AI interpretability is also a field that he works on. It aims to understand how artificial intelligence systems process information and arrive at their answers.
His journey is very interesting as he left university and then worked at some of the world's leading AI research organisations. This made him an unusual figure in the technology industry.
Why did Chris Olah leave the university?
He was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Olah went to the University of Toronto and studied mathematics. But, he eventually left after about a year and did not complete an undergraduate degree. The decision was linked to his efforts to help an acquaintance who was facing criminal charges.
