Kumar should start by asking his company to replace the taxable travel allowance with tax-free perks. There is no need for paperwork because employee benefit solutions such as Zaggle Save can manage these perks digitally. A communication reimbursement of Rs.18,000 (Rs.1,500 per month), a newspaper allowance of Rs.12,000 (Rs.1,000 per month), and food coupons worth Rs.26,400 (Rs.2,200 per month) will reduce Kumar’s tax outgo by roughly Rs.14,500.

Shifting to the new regime will help him save Rs.37,000 in tax.
