Book via aggregators instead of booking directly via airline site
Airlines are typically more expensive than aggregators. For instance, Yatra offers a much lower fare than Air India and Singapore Airlines. A Delhi-Singapore one-way air fare for May 30, 2025, is priced at Rs 12,100 on Yatra. The same route is priced at Rs 16,890 on the Air India site and at Rs 20,650 on the Air Singapore site.

Book in advance, not last minute
While you may snag good last-minute deals, there’s a higher chance of getting cheaper fares if booked 30-60 days in advance. On Ixigo, one-way air fares from Delhi to Singapore showed a huge difference. On 1 May, the fare stood at Rs .12,951, while on 30 May, the fares dipped to Rs.8,548

Direct flights are expensive; consider layovers
If time is not a constraint, long-haul flights with layovers will be cheaper than non-stop direct ones. Keep dates flexible. If you keep your dates of departure flexible, you can pick the cheapest options. On Ixigo, Delhi-Singapore, one-way air fare showed a huge difference. If you take a direct, nonstop flight from Delhi to Singapore, Goibibo shows the fare as Rs 12,951. But with one layover at Chennai of 10 hours 50 mins, the fare comes down to Rs 7,548

Keep dates flexible
If you keep your dates of departure flexible, you can pick the cheapest options. Experts note that mid-week departures (Tuesday or Wednesday) and early morning or red-eye flights tend to cost much less. On Goibibo, Delhi-Singapore one-way air fares were cheaper just a day apart. On 30 April, the fares were Rs 12,951, which came down to Rs 12,109 on 1 May.
