Although inflation is high in India, the prices of products and services are quite low compared to what people pay in other parts of the world. A study by Deutsche Bank confirms that India is among the cheapest places to live in. Here’s what a few essential and non-essential things cost across the world.

We take a look at the prices of various commodities. All figures in US dollar:

PETROL (1 litre)

Despite the high taxes, petrol prices in India are among the lowest in the world.

TAXI (8 km)

Cheap labour means taxi fares in India are also the lowest in the world.

iPHONE 5S

The premium smartphone is compratively cheap in India. Only in its home country US is the price lower

COKE (2 litre)

The soft drink is priced almost three times higher in its home country compared to India.
MUG OF BEER (500 ml)

Only in China is beer cheaper than in India. In the US, the price is more than double that of India.
