UIDAI extends free Aadhaar update deadline for 1 year
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline to update Aadhaar documents on the myAadhaar portal for free until next year. The earlier deadline for a free UID card update on its portal was June 16, 2026. Aadhaar holders can update their documents related to their UID card at no cost through the myAadhaar portal until the extended deadline.

The online service, which used to charge a fee, is now available for free until June 14, 2027, but only through the myAadhaar portal.
"It has been decided to extend the facility for one more year, i.e., from June 15, 2026, to June 14, 2027. Accordingly, the facility for document update shall continue to be free of cost till June 14, 2027,” says a statement from UIDAI.

UID cardholders can avail free update facility on Aadhaar card portal
Aadhaar users who need to update their proof of identity and address documents can continue to do so online without paying any charges. The free update facility is available only through the myAadhaar portal.
UIDAI has been encouraging people, especially those who obtained their Aadhaar card many years ago, and have not updated documents recently, to upload supporting documents to maintain accuracy in the Aadhaar database.

mAadhaar app to be retired soon
In an update posted on X (formerly Twitter), UIDAI has also notified that the mAadhaar app will be retired soon and Aadhaar holders can now download the new Aadhaar app. The new app offers features such as secure QR-based Aadhaar sharing, enhanced privacy controls and seamless access to Aadhaar services, making the digital identity experience simpler and more convenient.

How to submit Aadhaar documents online?
Step 1: Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/, and log in using your Aadhaar number and one-time password (OTP) received on your registered mobile number.
Step 2: Check your identity and address details displayed in your profile.
Step 3: If the details displayed in your profile are incorrect, take action as described in response to Question 5 below.
Step 4: If the details displayed in your profile are correct, please click on the tab 'I verify that the above details are correct'.
Step 5: Select the identity document from the drop-down menu that you wish to submit.
Step 6: Upload your identity document (size less than 2 MB; file format JPEG, PNG or PDF)
Step 7: Select the address document from the drop-down menu that you wish to submit.
Step 8: Upload your address document (size less than 2 MB; file format JPEG, PNG or PDF). Submit your consent.

Aadhaar card updates that cannot be done online
Biometrics such as fingerprints, iris scans and photographs can not be updated online. To make name and gender corrections and to update your mobile number and the date of birth (DOB), you require a mandatory visit to a physical Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
