UPI has emerged as the most convenient way to make everyday payments, eliminating the need for cash or physical cards. To send money through UPI, you need the mobile number or UPI ID of the receiver. However, you need to authenticate the UPI transaction with a four or six-digit PIN. Customers can activate their UPI PINs on their UPI apps. Initially, it was a must to have a debit card to set your UPI PIN. However, now you can set your UPI PIN without a debit card as well. Here's how

You can activate your UPI PIN in two ways — a) via debit card, b) via Aadhaar OTP. Here we have discussed how to set up your UPI PIN without a debit card.
To activate UPI using Aadhaar OTP, you must meet two requirements.
1) Your mobile number must be linked with your Aadhaar card.
2) Your mobile number must be registered with your bank.

Here’s how you can set up a UPI PIN for your bank account:
a) Go to the UPI application and add your bank account details.
b) In the next step, select the option to set UPI PIN for your account.
c) The application will give you two options — set up a UPI PIN through a debit card or an Aadhaar. You need to select the 'Aadhaar' option and provide your consent.
d) Then, validate your Aadhaar number by entering the first six digits of your Aadhaar number and confirm.

e) You will get an OTP on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar. Enter the OTP received from the banks. f) On the next page, you will be prompted to create a new UPI PIN.
g) Re-enter the OTP and confirm.
You have created a UPI PIN for your bank account without the debit card.
