Speed Post new tariff from October 1, 2025: Check revised charges, new features, and discounts

The Department of Posts (DoP) has revised Speed Post (document) tariffs while also introducing new features such as OTP-based delivery, real-time tracking and online booking. The revised tariffs will be applicable from October 1, 2025, the Ministry of Communications has said in a press release.

DoP has introduced several new features to strengthen its position as the preferred delivery service in the country. The new features are aimed at enhancing reliability, security, and customer convenience, the Ministry said in its press release.

The Ministry said that the new features aimed at enhancing reliability, security, and customer convenience, are as follows-

• OTP-based secure delivery
• Online payment facility
• SMS-based delivery notifications
• Convenient online booking services
• Real-time delivery updates
• Registration facility for users

The Ministry release said, “The tariff of Inland Speed Post was last revised in October 2012. In order to sustain ongoing improvements, meet rising operational costs, and invest in new innovations, the tariff of Speed Post (documents) has now been rationally revised.”



“The revised tariff will come into effect from October 1, 2025,” the Ministry said in the release The updated tariff structure is as follows:

What is the registration service of speed post and what is its charge?

Customers can also send their Speed Post delivery through the registration service. By availing this service, both documents and parcels can be sent to the addressee through a secure delivery.

The value-added service of Registration w that the item be delivered only to the addressee or a person duly authorised by the addressee. A fee of Rs 5/-per Speed Post item plus applicable GST will be charged from a customer.

Charges for OTP-based delivery

Under this service, the item will be delivered to the addressee only upon the successful confirmation of the OTP shared with the delivery staff.

For availing the value-added service of the ‘One-Time Password (OTP) Delivery’, there will be a fee of Rs 5/-per Speed Post item plus applicable GST.

Discounts available to students on using Speed Post

A 10% Speed Post tariff discount will be offered to students, while new bulk customers will be eligible for a special discount of 5%, the Ministry said.

Merger of Registered post to Speed post

The Department of Posts has merged Registered Post with Speed Post services for domestic transmissions, effective September 1, 2025.
