State Bank of India (SBI) has revised the number of free monthly transactions available to its salary package account holders using SBI debit cards at other banks’ ATMs (Automated Teller Machine) and ADWMs (Automated Deposit cum Withdrawal Machine). The new SBI ATM withdrawal rules will take effect from October 1, 2026.

SBI salary package account holders: Free ATM transactions at other bank ATMs cut to 5
For SBI salary package accounts across all variants, the number of free monthly transactions at other banks’ ATMs will be trimmed from 10 to five at all centres. The limit covers both financial and non-financial transactions.

SBI ATM charges after free transaction limit: How much will customers pay?
Charges will be taken from SBI salary package account holders once the free transaction limit is exhausted. However, customers will continue to pay Rs 23 plus Goods and Services Tax (GST) for each cash withdrawal and Rs 11 plus GST for each non-financial transaction after the free ATM transactions limit is crossed.

SBI ATM rules for non-salary package accounts: Free transaction limit remains unchanged
The number of monthly free transactions and applicable service charges for accounts other than SBI salary package accounts will remain unchanged. Customers will continue to get five free transactions at all centres, including both financial and non-financial transactions.
After the free monthly transaction limit is exhausted, customers will continue to pay Rs 23 plus GST for each cash withdrawal and Rs 11 plus GST for each non-financial transaction. These charges have been effective since December 1, 2025.

How many free transactions are available for SBI ATM card holders at other banks’ ATMs?
The first five ATM transactions are free at all centres. There is no separate metro and non-metro classification. The six metro centres under the earlier classification were Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
For SBI customers, non-financial transactions and non-cash financial transactions, such as trust donations, are free at SBI ATMs.

Do SBI salary package account holders get unlimited transactions at SBI ATMs?
Yes. All SBI Salary Package Accounts, including Shaurya Family Pension Accounts and Family Savings Account – SBI RISHTEY, can make unlimited free transactions at SBI ATMs across all locations, irrespective of the account variant.
