Saturday bank holiday: Are banks open or closed today on September 26, 2026?

Sunday, September 27, will be an exception this time as public sector banks and regional rural banks are set to keep their branches open ahead of the proposed three-day bank strike from September 28 to 30, 2026.

Customers planning to visit a public sector bank branch on Sunday may, therefore, find different arrangements depending on their bank. State Bank of India (SBI) has said its branches will remain open, while bank unions have questioned the decision to keep branches operational on a Sunday.

Private sector banks are not part of the strike and they are likely to stay closed on Sunday.

In September 2026, as per the RBI’s holiday calendar, banks will be closed on the occasions of Janmashtami (Vaishnva), elections in the jurisdiction of Jaipur Municipal Corporation, Tirubhav Tithi of Srimanta Sankardeva, Ganesh Chaturthi, Samvatsari (Chaturthi Paksha)/Nuakhai/Ganesh Chaturthi (2nd Day), Janmotsav of Srimanta Sankardeva/Sree Narayana Guru Samadhi, Karma Puja, Birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh Ji and Indrajatra, depending on the state.
