Saturday bank holiday: Are banks open or closed today on March 22, 2025?

As the financial year comes to an end, taxpayers, businesses, and individuals often rush to complete last-minute banking transactions, including income tax filings, investments, and financial settlements. Many people also prefer visiting banks on Saturdays to avoid weekday work schedules. However, given the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) banking schedule, one must check whether the bank is operational before visiting a branch.

Are banks open or closed today on March 22, 2025?

Banks will be closed today on March 22, 2025, as it is the fourth Saturday of the month.
As per the current rule, banks in India are open on the first and third Saturdays of the month unless specified in the RBI’s holiday list. Banks will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays. Banks are closed every Sunday, irrespective of the state.

Karnataka bandh today, March 22, 2025

In response to an alleged attack on a KSRTC bus conductor in Belagavi, pro-Kannada organizations in Karnataka, headed by the Kannada Okkuta group, have called for a nationwide bandh on March 22, 2025. A group of Marathi-speaking people allegedly attacked the conductor because he refused to speak Marathi. The bandh is expected to affect public services, including schools, colleges, and public transport.

Banks will be closed today in Karnataka irrespective of the bandh in the state.

Upcoming bank holidays in March 2025

March 27 (Thursday) – Shab-I-Qadr: Banks will be closed in Jammu and Srinagar.
March 28 (Friday) – Jumat-ul-Vida: Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Srinagar.
March 31 (Monday) – Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr): Banks were supposed to be closed on March 31 in almost all states except Himachal Pradesh and Mizoram for Ramzan-Id (Id-Ul-Fitr).
However, the RBI has instructed all agency banks and banks that handle government transactions to remain open on March 31, 2025 (Monday), even though it is a holiday in many states.
