Saturday bank holiday: Are banks closed today?

All national holidays and state regional holidays, as well as second and fourth Saturdays and all Sundays, are designated as days when both private and public sector banks will be closed, per the holiday list provided by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Consequently, customers of banks must verify the operational status of the branch before planning a visit on a Saturday.

The Government of India has declared only three national holidays in 2024: Republic Day (26 January), Independence Day (15 August), and Gandhi Jayanti (2 October).
