The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) every year announces a month-wise bank holiday calendar that has the list of holidays for all states in the country. Banks are closed across India only on national holidays such as Gandhi Jayanti, Independence Day and Republic day.

RBI-approved bank holidays across India may vary from state to state, depending on local festivals, birthdays, anniversaries or other celebrations.

Banks also remain closed on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, as per RBI rules.
