PM Kisan: Aadhaar-based eKYC via OTP authentication temporarily suspended

The deadline for completing mandatory eKYC for eligible farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi has been extended by the central government from March 31, 2022, to May 22, 2022. The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme is a Central Sector Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme that provides financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per annum to all landholding farmer families across the country, subject to certain exclusion criteria.

However, after the extension, e-KYC option is no longer available on the PM Kisan portal.
According to the PM Kisan website, "eKYC is MANDATORY for PMKISAN Registered Farmers. Pls. contact nearest CSC centres for Biometric authentication. Aadhar based eKYC through OTP Authentication has been temporarily suspended."


Farmers would not be able to finish the eKYC task by using OTP authentication with Aadhaar. They will have to depend only on biometric authentication for eKYC.

PM Kisan beneficiaries must complete the eKYC to receive the 11th instalment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.

To complete eKYC offline, the beneficiary can visit Common Service Center(CSC) along with an Aadhaar card. Request the operator and inform that that you want to complete eKYC and finish your biometric authentication.

The funds are disbursed directly into the bank accounts of the farmers recognised by the state/UT governments as beneficiaries. A total of Rs 6,000 per year is sent directly into the bank accounts of the farmers in three four-monthly instalments of Rs 2,000.
