Why the PM Kisan beneficiary count may change
The government is taking several measures to ensure that the scheme’s benefits reach only to eligible farmers. As part of this process, authorities have been identifying and removing ineligible beneficiaries from the list.According to the guidelines, the department has identified certain suspected cases that may fall under the exclusion criteria of the scheme. These include:
(i) Farmers who acquired land ownership after February 1, 2019.
(ii) Cases where more than one family member is receiving benefits
The benefits for such cases have been temporarily withheld till physical verification is completed.
