PM Kisan 22nd instalment: Key details farmers should know before the payment release

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the 22nd instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme from Guwahati, Assam, this week, according to a message on the PM Kisan website.

Under this scheme, eligible farmers are provided with a financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments of Rs 2000, which helps them meet their needs for seeds, fertilisers, equipment and other agricultural requirements.

Yes, over 2.15 crore women farmer beneficiaries will receive financial assistance in the 22nd installment alone. Under this installment, an amount of more than Rs 18,640 crore will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of more than 9.32 crore farmer families across the country through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

The "Know Your Status (KYS)" module has been made available on the PM-Kisan portal. This allows beneficiaries to check their payment status, eligibility, land seeding, Aadhaar linking and e-KYC status all in one place. The Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed that to simplify the e-KYC process, a face-authentication-based mobile app has been launched. Through this app, farmers can complete their e-KYC from home without the need for an OTP or biometric device. Furthermore, state and village-level nodal officers are also assisting farmers in this process.

The government has identified certain suspected cases that may be excluded from the PM Kisan scheme beneficiary list. These include:

* Farmers who acquired land ownership after February 1, 2019.
* Cases where more than one family member is receiving benefits (e.g., both husband and wife, an adult member and minor, etc.).
* The benefits for such cases have been temporarily withheld till physical verification is completed.
