What is PM-Kisan scheme?
The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central government scheme that provides income support to eligible landholding farmer families. Under the scheme, Rs 6,000 is transferred every year in 3 equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each to help farmers meet agricultural and allied expenses.

When will 22nd instalment be released?
The 22nd instalment of ?2,000 is likely to be released around the end of March 2026. The 21st PM Kisan instalment was disbursed in November 2025, which means the next one is expected before the end of March 2026.

Is eKYC mandatory?
Yes. According to the PM-Kisan portal, eKYC is mandatory for all registered farmers. The OTP-based eKYC can be completed online through the PM-Kisan website, while the biometric-based eKYC can be done at the nearest CSC.

Is farmer ID mandatory?
Farmer ID has been made mandatory only for new PM-Kisan registrations in 14 states where farmer registry work has started.

States where farmer ID is required
New applicants must provide a farmer ID for registration in the following states: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh. In other states where registry work has not started, farmer ID is not required for registration.

To check status:
1. Visit the official PM-Kisan portal.
2. Click on ‘Beneficiary Status’ under Farmers Corner.
3. Enter Aadhaar number, bank account number or mobile number along with captcha.

Who may not receive the 22nd instalment?
Benefits may be withheld in suspected exclusion cases, including:
* Farmers who acquired land after February 1, 2019.
* Cases where more than one family member is receiving benefits.
Payments remain on hold until physical verification is completed.

How to verify eligibility
Farmers can check their eligibility through the ‘Know Your Status (KYS)’ option on the PM-Kisan portal or via the Kisan eMitra chatbot.
