To honor the memory of the late Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has declared a bank holiday in Bengaluru on December 27, 2024. As per ET Wealth Online sources, branches of Canara Bank, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank are closed in Karnataka on December 27, 2024.

According to a social media post by Congress for Telangana, “The Telangana government declared a holiday on Friday to all government offices and educational institutions, following the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The State government declared mourning for a period of seven days.” Bank will be open in Telangana as per the RBI holiday list.Paying his tributes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Dr. Singh as "one of the most distinguished leaders of the country." Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid a heartfelt tribute, quoting Dr. Singh's own words from his final press conference as Prime Minister: "Undoubtedly, history shall judge you kindly, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji!" Kharge further said, "I grieve the loss of a lifelong senior colleague, a gentle intellectual, and a humble soul who truly embodied India's aspirations."
Rahul Gandhi expressed his sorrow on social media platform X, and said, "Manmohan Singh Ji led India with immense wisdom and integrity. His humility and profound understanding of economics inspired the nation. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Kaur and the family. I have lost a mentor and guide."
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh remembered Dr. Singh's transformative achievements during his tenure. "His Prime Ministership saw groundbreaking legislation on rural employment, tribal rights, reservations for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and OBCs, primary education, food security, and land acquisition. The Indo-US nuclear agreement was a milestone that elevated India's global standing," Ramesh noted.
