Long weekend in April 2023: Banks to remain closed for 3 days in these states

Customers should check the bank holiday list based on the state they live in since some states will have banks closed for three days straight in the month of April.

Banks will be closed for three consecutive days in some states in the month of April, so customers should check the bank holiday list depending on the state they reside in. This is because bank holidays differ depending on the state. It is encouraged that bank customers arrange their bank-based work taking into consideration all of these below holidays to avoid any misunderstandings.

States witnessing long holiday in April 7, 8,9
April 7 (Friday)- Good Friday- Banks are closed in most of the states except Tripura, Gujarat, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar.
The month of April has a long bank holiday weekend in some states, as Good Friday is on April 7 (Friday) which is followed by second Saturday and Sunday.


Banks in India are closed on the second Saturday and Sunday while, first and third Saturdays are working days.

Customers shouldn't anticipate any problems with bank-related tasks that don't require a visit to the bank because ATMs, cash deposits, internet banking, and mobile banking will all continue to operate normally during bank holidays.

April 1 (Saturday) – Yearly closing- Banks are closed in all states except in Mizoram, Chandigarh, Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh.
April 4 (Tuesday)- Mahavir Jayanti- Banks are closed in Gujarat, Mizoram, Maharastra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Chandigarh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Lucknow, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand.
April 5 (Wednesday)- Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Birthday- Banks closed in Hyderabad.
April 7 (Friday)- Good Friday- Banks are closed in most of the states except Tripura, Gujarat, Assam, Rajasthan, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Srinagar.
April 14 (Friday)- Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti/Bohag Bihu/Cheiraoba/Vaisakhi/Baisakhi/Tamil New Year's Day/Maha Bisubha Sankranti/Biju Festival/Buisu Festival- Banks are closed in most of the except Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, New Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Mehalaya, Homalchal Pradesh.
April 15 (Saturday)- Vishu/Bohag Bihu/Himachal Day/Bengali New Year’s Day (Nababarsha)- Banks are closed in Tripura, Assam, Kerala, Bengal, Himachal Pradesh.
April 18 (Tuesday)- Shab-l-Qadr- Banks are closed in Jammu and Srinagar.
April 21 (Friday)- Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramzan Eid)/Garia Puja/Jumat-ul-Vida- Banks are closed in Tripura, Jammu and Srinagar, Kerala.

April 22 (Saturday)- Ramzan Eid (Eid-Ul-Fitr): Banks are closed on account of fourth Saturday.
