Lok Sabha Election 2024 bank holiday: Banks in these cities closed today for phase 4 of elections

The fourth round of the seven-phase Lok Sabha 2024 elections is today, May 13. The votes from all polls will be tallied on June 4. On election day, schools and institutions inside the constituencies will stay closed to ensure a seamless voting process.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list, banks in certain but not all constituencies where voting is scheduled will also be closed.

Banks in these cities will be closed for Phase 4 elections on May 13

Banks will be closed in Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), Kanpur and Srinagar. Voting in Phase 4 will take place in 96 constituencies across 10 states and Union territories (UT).

May Bank holidays

On Monday, May 13, 2024, election day, the State Government of Andhra Pradesh has declared a public holiday for all employees in all sectors. This government directive covers local governments, Panchayat offices, central and state government agencies, and private sector businesses.

The Reserve Bank of India notifies bank holidays in three categories: the Negotiable Instruments Act Holiday, the Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and bank account closures.
