Lok Adalat on Dec 13: Which cases can you resolve?
National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) will conduct the 4th National Lok Adalat on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in many states of the country. This one-day nationwide drive aims to help people resolve disputes quickly, amicably, and at a minimal cost.

Lok Adalats are known for reducing the burden on courts and ensuring that both parties reach a mutually agreeable settlement without lengthy litigation. If you have a pending civil or compoundable criminal matter, this may be an opportunity to settle your case.


Where will Lok Adalats be held?

Lok Adalats will be held at all High Courts, District Courts, Debt Recovery Tribunals,
State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions and Permanent Lok Adalats across India.


The 4th National Lok Adalat will be held across India on December 13, 2025, except in Rajasthan on December 19 and December 21, 2025, Telangana on December 21, 2025, and Delhi January 10, 2026.

Which cases would be taken up in Lok Adalats?

Following categories of cases would be taken up in Lok Adalats:
  • Criminal compoundable offences
  • NI (cheque bounce) cases under Section 138 of the NI Act
  • Revenue cases
  • Recovery cases
  • Motor accident claims
  • Labour disputes
  • Bank recovery cases
  • Matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce cases)
  • Land acquisition cases
  • Intellectual property rights (IPR)
  • Municipal matters
  • Electricity and water bill cases
  • Other civil matters
  • Compoundable traffic offences

How to register for Lok Adalat

People can follow these steps to register:
Visit the state chapter's official website of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
Select the option for online application for Lok Adalat.
Fill in the application form and upload required documents.
Submit the form to receive a token number via email or phone.

Lok Adalat: Challans not eligible for waiver

Serious or criminal violations will stay outside the Lok Adalat’s purview. Cases in the following categories will not be heard:

Drunk driving
Hit-and-run cases

Death caused by negligent driving
Driving by minors
Unauthorized racing or speed trials
Vehicles used in criminal activities

Traffic challans pending in court cases
Challans issued in other states
The initiative is only for minor offences and not for cases involving potential danger to life.
