Is it a bank holiday today?

It was the festival of Eid-ul-Azha on July 10, 2022 (Sunday). Since the festival fell on a Sunday, many people will be wondering if it is a bank holiday today i.e., July 11.

The answer to this is no. Banks across the country are open today, except for in Jammu and Kashmir where banks are closed today due to Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar list, bank holidays are state-specific holidays for distinct occasions. While some holidays vary by state, all banks are closed on public holidays. Only the holidays designated by the government are observed by all banks across the country.


Private and public sector banks across the country will be closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month, as well as every Sunday.

For the remaining month of July, banks in certain states will be closed for these festivals: Bhanu Jayanti, Beh Dienkhlam, Harela, Ker Puja.



The holidays have been designated by the RBI are as follows: Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act; Holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday; and Banks' Closing of Account
