Is it a bank holiday today for Ram Navami? Check state-wise bank holiday list

In accordance with the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) official bank holiday list, public and private sector banks will be closed on March 30 due to Ram Navami in several states. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes state holidays on its official website.

The regional holiday of Ram Navami commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Rama.

Banks are closed in March for Chapchar Kut, Holi, Ugadi, and Shree Ram Navami. Banks are also closed on Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.


Banks closed in these states
March 30(Thursday)- Shree Ram Navami (Chaite Dashain)- Banks are closed in Gujrat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Telangana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh.

Reserve Bank of India places its Holidays under three brackets;

• Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act
• Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday
• Banks’ Closing of Account.

Online transactions
Bank customer who have net banking should be worried about bank holidays as most of the banking transactions can be done online. Bank ATMs will be working even on the day of bank holiday. Bank customers are advised to use net banking, mobile banking and avoid visiting banks for purposes which can be done online.

Upcoming holidays in April
Banks will be closed for 15 days across states in April 2023, including Sundays, the second and fourth Saturdays, and regional holidays.
Banks will be closed in April on the occasions of yearly accounts closing, Mahavir Jayanti, Babu Jagjivan Ram’s Birthday, Good Friday, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Sankranti/Biju Festival/Buisu Festival, Tamil New Year's Day, Vishu/Bohag Bihu/Himachal Day/Bengali New Year’s Day (Nababarsha), Shab-l-Qadr, Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramzan Eid)/Garia Puja/Jumat-ul-Vida and Ramzan Eid (Eid-Ul-Fitr).
