How to retrieve lost Aadhaar EID or UID?

If you misplace or lose the EID, you will be able to retrieve it by following the procedures outlined below.

The Aadhaar Unique Identification Number (UID) or Enrollment ID (EID) is a 28 digit number allotted to you when you enrol for your Aadhaar. After enrolling for an Aadhaar do make sure to make a note of your Aadhaar UID/EID. You will need these to check the status of your Aadhaar enrollment.

If you misplace or lose the EID, you will be able to retrieve it by following the procedures outlined below.

According to tweet by UIDAI, “By authentication via OTP, you can retrieve your Lost/Forgotten Aadhaar UID/EID using the website or mAadhaar App.”



Do note that you will not be required to provide any documents to retrieve your lost Aadhaar EID. You are only required to provide contact details that were registered with your Aadhaar while enrolling.

Steps to follow to retrieve Aadhaar enrolment ID

Step 1: Visit UIDAI website
Step 2: Under ‘My Aadhaar’, click lost Retrieve Lost or Forgotten EID/UID (Direct link- https://resident.uidai.gov.in/lost-uideid)
Step 3: Enter Aadhaar no (UID) or Enrolment ID (EID)
Step 4: Enter your full name as per application along with mobile number and Email ID
Step 5: Enter Captcha Code and click on ‘Send OTP’
Enter OTP and details will be send your registered mobile number.

Else you can also call UIDAI helpline 1947 to retrieve your Enrolment ID
