To open an NRE or NRO account online, you can go to the HDFC Bank website and fill in the HDFC bank NRE/NRO Account opening application form. Then a bank representative will call you to assist further on the account opening process.

If you are already an existing account holder with HDFC Bank and if you wish to open an account online, then you need to mandatorily self-attest all supporting KYC documents.

If you do not have a bank account in HDFC Bank, then you need to submit attested supporting KYC documents. These documents need to be self-attested and further need to be attested by any one of the designated authorities

Documents you need to submit to open an NRE/NRO online (New to bank/existing NRI customer)
1) NRI account opening form (A4) signed by all holders.
2) Latest Passport size photograph of all holders.
3) Copy of PAN card/Form 60 (in the absence of PAN)
4) Proof of Identity (Valid Indian/Foreign Passport)
5) Proof of NRI/PIO Status (Indian Passport holder- Valid Employment / Residence / Student / Dependent visa copy or work / Residence Permit copy. Foreign Passport holder- OCI-Overseas Citizen of India card / PIO-Person of Indian Origin card. PIO Declaration- Customer holding a foreign passport and does not have an OCI or PIO card then the PIO Declaration (Section O of the NRI account opening form) needs to be filled)
6) Proof of Address (Any ONE Address Proof - either OVERSEAS OR INDIAN) Click here for the list of acceptable address proofs)
