How to check linking status of bank in Aadhaar
Linking Aadhaar with one's bank account is mandatory if an individual wishes to avail benefits of various government schemes and scholarships. Recently more than 12,000 students in Himachal Pradesh failed to get their scholarship amounts for 2022-23 as they did not link their Aadhaar with their savings bank accounts, according to a news report by the Times of India.

On the 'myAadhaar' portal of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), an individual can check which bank account of theirs is linked with their Aadhaar number. According to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rules if an individual has multiple bank accounts only one can be linked with Aadhaar. Multiple bank accounts cannot be linked with the same Aadhaar

How to check if bank account is linked to Aadhaar

Here's how to check bank account linking status on UIDAI's MyAadhaar portal.

Step 1: Go to my Aadhaar website: https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/
Step 2: Click on login. A new webpage will open, enter your Aadhaar number and fill in the captcha challenge. Then click 'Send OTP'. Once the OTP comes click 'login'.
Step 3: A new webpage will open. Navigate to the button titled 'Bank Seeding Status'. Click on it. The page will take a few seconds to load. After that the bank which is linked with Aadhaar will be shown.

Things to know
Bank account's seeding with Aadhaar status will either be shown as 'Active' or 'Inactive'. Apart from this, the bank seeding page will show a total of four details.
1. The first information shown is the last four digits of the Aadhaar number with the other digits masked.
2. The second information is 'Bank Name'.
3. The third information is Bank Seeding Status (Active/Inactive).
4. The fourth information is when the seeding status was last updated.

A cautionary message is also displayed at the bottom of the Bank account seeding page. It reads: "The information provided through the link is fetched from the server of National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI). UIDAI is not responsible for its correctness. The information fetched is not stored by UIDAI."

Knowing which of your bank accounts is linked with Aadhaar will help you know about the Aadhaar enabled payment system (AePS). If an AePS transaction is to be done, then it can only be done through a linked bank account.
