How to buy a Delhi Metro ticket/token using UPI at metro stations

Passengers can now use mobile applications that enable UPI on their smartphones to pay for smart card recharges and metro QR ticket purchases at its stations throughout the Delhi-NCR network.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that commuters can now pay for tokens at ticket vending machines and customer support centres using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Passengers can now use mobile applications that enable UPI on their smartphones to pay for smart card recharges and metro QR ticket purchases at its stations throughout the Delhi-NCR network.

According to the DMRC press release, “DMRC was the first Metro system in the country to initially start this UPI facility on select TVMs on Noida and Ghaziabad section in 2018 which is now being extended further on the network. With the current exercise, TVMs at over 125 stations have already been upgraded across the Metro network offering a faster, more convenient, and secure mode of payment to streamline ticketing services and contribute to the overall modernization of public transportation in Delhi/NCR while the remaining TVMs with UPI facility will be extended within a week’s time.”


How to buy Delhi Metro tokens via ticket vending machines (TVM) using UPI

Step 1: Select the service that you would like to use at the ticket vending machine (TVM).
Step 2: The ticket vending machine offers a number of payment methods. Choose UPI amount other options mentioned.
Step 3: The screen of the ticket vending machine will show a QR code. Use any smartphone app with UPI support to scan the presented QR code within the time frame.
Step 4: The DMRC ticket vending machine processes the payment and issues the ticket or smart card recharge to the passenger after the UPI payment has been authorised.
A receipt will be issued for the transaction by the TVM.


How to buy metro tickets using UPI customer care centres

Passengers can tell the operator they prefer UPI payment by specifying it in the Customer Care Center's menu of payment alternatives. The Passenger Information Display (PID) screen will show a QR code after UPI is confirmed as the preferred method. Then you can make a payment using a smartphone and receive the token.
