How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
Under the direction of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Cabinet has approved the PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This solar rooftop panel scheme can be used to install rooftop solar and give one crore homes free energy for up to 300 units per month

The Government has launched a massive campaign since the launch of the scheme for raising awareness and generating applications from interested households for the solar rooftop scheme. Households can register themselves on https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in to avail benefits under the scheme

Central Financial Assistance (CFA) for Residential Rooftop Solar
According to the PIB release dated February 29, 2024, here are the major highlights of the scheme:
Subsidy amount
At current benchmark prices, this will mean Rs 30,000 subsidy for 1 kW system, Rs 60,000 for 2 kW systems and Rs 78,000 for 3 kW systems or higher, according to the PIB release.

Subsidy through the National Portal
The households will apply for subsidy through the National Portal and will be able to select a suitable vendor for installing rooftop solar. The National Portal will assist the households in their decision-making process by providing relevant information such as appropriate system sizes, benefits calculator, vendor rating etc, according to the latest PIB press release.

Low-interest loan products
Households will be able to access collateral-free low-interest loan products of around 7% at present for installation of residential RTS systems up to 3 kW.

How to apply for PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

Step 1
  • Register in the portal with the following
  • Select your State & Electricity Distribution Company
  • Enter your Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number & Email.
Step 2
  • Login with Consumer Number & Mobile Number
  • Apply for the Rooftop Solar as per the form
Step 3

  • Once you get the feasibility approval, get the plant installed by any of the registered vendors in your DISCOM.
Step 4
Once installation is completed , submit the plant details and apply for net meter.

Step 5
Commissioning certificate will be generated from the portal, after installation of net meter and inspection by DISCOM.

Step 6
Once you get the commissioning report. Submit the bank account details and a cancelled cheque through the portal. You will receive your subsidy in your bank account within 30 days.
